Egg shares are now available for purchase!

Night Owl Farm is offering two sizes of egg shares this season, and they will be delivered along with your weekly CSA veggie baskets. Starting in early July, there will be 14 deliveries of farm-fresh, free-range/pastured eggs grown with love by our farm neighbors, Nate and Mary.

If you have not purchased a CSA veggie basket, but want an egg share, you can purchase it and pick it up at one of our free pick-up locations, or else pay for home delivery.

Small Egg Share:
Our small share is a half dozen eggs per week for 14 weeks.  The cost is $28.00 (equalling $2 per half dozen).

Large Egg Share:
Our large share is a dozen eggs per week for 14 weeks.  The cost is $56.00 (equalling $4 per dozen).

We hope you will add on an egg share to support our latest collaboration at Night Owl Farm!

Reflections on 2014 and Thank you!

Night Owl Farm is now one year old.

We acquired the farm land in January of 2014 and had a fantastic first season, providing beautiful, weekly CSA baskets to 36 members for 12 weeks from July 16th – October 1st.  Our first year was challenging in many ways, but we learned so much from our neighbors, our organic growing community, our CSA members, and especially Mother Nature.  We had a very wet and late spring, so were not ready to get going with our CSA until the middle of July.  We started our seeds indoors on March 12th, and we finally broke ground at the farm late (on May 10th), due to the wetness.  We started directly sowing seeds and putting transplants in the earth on May 18th, 2014.

We accomplished tasks in 2014 that will make our upcoming 2015 season feel like a breeze.  We will need to till our green mulch into our growing beds, but thankfully our beds are already laid out and ready for this. In 2014, we constructed a trellis system for our vining plants which will be in place for our crops  in 2015. Our deer fence was constructed in June of 2014.  It will need some simple repairs in 2015, but is essentially done.

Because we are increasing our CSA membership from 36 shares in 2014  to 50 members in 2015, we are currently constructing shelving units with grow lights to house our extra seedlings and have been planning our seed order accordingly.

Last year, our only outreach was through word of mouth and Facebook. We enlisted the participation of our family and friends for our CSA and want to give a big thank you to all of our members from 2014!  Thank you, again, for being a part of our test run and we hope to have you back in 2015!

We are forever grateful for and indebted to Andrew Schroeder for helping us get this website up and running!  Thank you, Andrew!

Before we begin our second season, we want to give a big thank you to our sweethearts who supported us in 2014, and who will continue to sustain us in 2015 and beyond.

Night Owl Farm is a small operation, founded and mainly run by two people, Susan Andre and Rosie Kimball, but the farm’s success would not be possible without the help and support of our most beloved partners/family members: Brent Lehman, Ellie Harker, Isaac Harker, and Steve Harker.

Thank you!!
